Product Overview
MC14529BCP Dual 4-Channel Analog Data Selector by Motorola.
Output Type: CMOS
Functional Details
Unlike a standard digital multiplexer that only routes basic 1s and 0s, the MC14529BCP features bidirectional analog switches. This means it can seamlessly route continuously variable analog voltages (like audio signals, sensor levels, or analog control voltages) in addition to standard digital logic levels.
Depending on how you configure its address inputs, it functions in two distinct ways:
1. Dual 4-Channel Multiplexer/Demultiplexer: Selects 1 of 4 channels across two separate functional blocks simultaneously.
2. Single 8-Channel Multiplexer/Demultiplexer: Routes 1 of 8 channels to a single common input/output.
Because of its bidirectional nature, it works in both directions:
it can route multiple inputs to one output (multiplexing), or split one source into multiple target paths (demultiplexing).
